Important: Both 12:30 and 1:30 Jummah are cancelled! As-Salamu Aly-Kum,
Both the 12:30 and 1:30 Jummah are canceled, since the university is closed and we have no (large) space to accommodate everyone. Due to the inclement weather, Jummah is not obligatory. The three options are:
1- If you are alone without any Muslim(s) near by, then you just need to pray Duhur.
2- If you are with 2 other Muslims (3 including yourself), then one of you can do a small Jummah, so long as the individual is knowledgeable about the conditions for Jummah Khutba.
3- You can go to downtown Musallah by taking the HSR bus. If you don't know how to get there then please call HSR at 905-527-4441.
4- If you are a female, then Jummah is not obligatory on you in the first place.
As regards the excuses for which one can be absent from Friday prayer, the scholars have stated them in their books with the evidence from the Sunnah, and they are as follows: illness, heavy rain [i.e. extreme weather], fear of persecution or being beaten, or having no clothes to put on and other similar excuses which prevent the person from going to the mosque. As regards studies, they are not an excuse for not going for Friday prayer especially since you have stated that your friend can change the timing of the lesson in a way to be able to pray Friday prayer. This year there will be three unique events by guest speakers bringing to light different aspects of the Islamic faith. As well, there will be an information booth EVERY DAY in the student centre from 9:30am-3:30pm, where you can ask all your questions and find more free material.

Our annual MSA Reading Week Ski Trip will take place on Tuesday February 19th 2008 at Horseshoe Valley. The Ski Trip include MSA's from McMaster, Ryerson, U of T, UTM and UTSC. The deadline to purchase your ticket is Friday February 1st 2008 - Please purchase it ASAP as tickets are limited. Skiing: $45
Snowboarding: $50 The prices include Rentals, Lessons, Lift Ticket and Transportation. You can purchase your tickets:
