Assalamu alaikum wa Rahmatullah
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Amilah Baksh has resigned as VP sisters for the 2008-2009 academic year. We wish Amilah all the best with her school and pray that she is able to attain balance in all aspects of her life. We are grateful that she has offered to fill in any gaps we have until we find a replacement, including helping put together welcome week and Clubsfest.
In light of recent events, we must continue to move forward. The plan is to hold a by-election for the VP sisters position in September. After selecting an appropriate CRO and DRO we intend to open up nominations for the position in late August. Voting will occur, inshaAllah, during the first FULL week of school up to and including after Jumuah, and by mid-September we hope to announce a new sister’s VP.
Eligibility for nominations (and voting) will be based on last year’s paid membership; essentially the same population from the elections in March. This includes this year’s selected directors as well. In the event that a director gets voted in, that directorship will be offered to the runner-up candidate for that position. If the runner-up declines the offer, the exec will re-open applications for that position.
We ask you to stay patient and keep posted through MMNs as to the specific dates, such as deadlines for nominations, voting, etc. In the next few weeks we will be ironing out these details and selecting a CRO and DRO to run the election.

On behalf of Abdul-Munem Al-Khudairi, the Chief Returning Officer
(CRO), and Ateeka Khan, the Deputy Returning Officer (DRO), we would
like to announce the final results of the MSA elections for the
2008-2009 terms. As the Elections Committee, we are an independent
body separate from current MSA Executives and Directors, and all
questions and concerns regarding the elections process should be
addressed to us ONLY.

Technology Services will be holding a regular mini-worshop every Tuesday from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. It will lead through creating a membership system and other such things for the MSA using databases. No previous knowledge is required. For more information check out the forums here. This Tuesday (March 18th) it will be in MUSC 206 at 5:30 p.m. |

Insh’Allah next week (Friday, March 21st) we will have two jummah’s as we regularly do. The first jummah will be at 1:30 in the MSA and only brothers are allowed. However, both brothers and sisters are allowed in the 2:30 jummah.
